Say what you want about straight, rich, white men running the United States government, and then take a look at the two people who are credited with being the first to get the Tea Party and the Coffee Party percolating. The first thing you might notice? They’re both young women. And, coincidentally, they both studied at Oxford. Already this looks like a change is gonna come. Herein, a look at some of the bigwigs.

WHO’S WHO OF TEA PARTY BIGWIGS

KELI CARENDER, THE BLOGGER

Nearly every write-up about KELI CARENDER notes: She has tattoos! A nose ring! Works for a nonprofit! Does improv! To the MSM (aka mainstream media), this seems to spell out L-I-B-E-R-A-L, but in fact Carender, who hails from Seattle, is actually credited with starting the Tea Party. Even “leaders of the Tea Party movement credit her with being the first,” says the New York Times. Blogging as Liberty Belle and flipped out about President Obama’s stimulus package, she got on the web, the horn, and the rooftops to arrange a protest in downtown Seattle on February 16, 2009. About 120 folks showed up, and the Tea Party was out of the gate.
